Which Seal Do You Need?
If you’re replacing a worn bellows-based seal, retrofitting a traditional stuffing box, or upgrading for extended service life,
Lasdrop has an option:
| Model | Seal Type | Use Case | Servicing | Sizes |
| Gen II | Mechanical Face | Commercial vessels & daily-use applications | Moderate; no bellows or set screws | 1″ – 5″ (25–130 mm) |
| EliteSeal | Rotary Lip | Premium leisure or charter use | Minimal; includes built-in backup seal | 3/4″ – 8″ (20–200 mm) |
| DrySeal | Rotary Lip | Cost-effective refits & basic installs | Low; optional backup seal | 3/4″ – 8″ (20–200 mm) |
Gen II Shaft Seal – Mechanical Face
A heavy-duty, commercial-grade seal using a carbon friction ring against a stainless rotating assembly. Designed with no bellows
and no set screws, Gen II seals provide long-term alignment, stability, and dry operation even under high duty cycles.
The Lasdrop Gen II propeller shaft seal is packed full of features that makes it the premier shaft seal on the market, it is the culmination of over 25 years of design development. The Generation 2 shaft seal incorporates a unique ball-bearing drive system that allows the seal ring to “float” and remain in constant contact with the carbon graphite seal surface, ensuring the seal is watertight.
You can view the key benefits of the GEN II shaft seal herePressure Housing -vs- Bellows Hose. The Gen2 shaft seal creates compression via an innovative pressure housing, eliminating the need for a bellows hose. This pressure housing is far longer lasting when compared to a bellows design, resulting in less maintenance over the life of the seal.Integrated Bearing Design.
An integrated water lubricated bearing allows the seal body to follow the shaft ensuring proper face seal alignment. Note: ALL Lasdrop bearing housings have tolerances within 0.001. The integrated bearing allows the seal body to self-align following the shaft.Integrated Clamping System.
The Gen2 pressure housing secures to the shaft through a simple integrated clamping system. This eliminates the need for set screws – which can lead to damage of the shaft & slippage after their first use leading to a less secure and stable seal.Sizing. Sandard sizing ranges from 30mm to 130mm. Bespoke sizing offered on request, contact our team to discuss.
- The Gen II uses a 316-marine grade stainless steel spring to provide pressure to the seal surfaces.
- Together, the spring and seal ring rotate along with the shaft and remain secured in the Clamp/Pressure housing.
- The Clamp/Pressure housing is secured to the shaft without the use of set screws preventing galling or damage to the shaft.Dual u-cup seals, which also rotate on the shaft, are seated inside of the seal ring, and prevent the passage of water to this point.
- The friction ring assembly is constructed from a durable copolymer housing protecting the carbon graphite friction ring and incorporates a water lubricated bearing maintaining correct alignment to the shaft.
- Each kit includes AWAB hose clamps that are manufactured from 316 stainless steel with rolled band edges to eliminate risk of damage to the hose.
- The non-perforated band provides twice the tensile strength of a regular clamp.
- Available in shaft sizes of 30mm – 100mm in diameter.
- All units have dual water injection ports including necessary hardware.

EliteSeal – Rotary Lip Seal with Built-in Backup
Designed for quick, tool-free service without shaft removal. EliteSeal includes one spare seal in its integrated housing, allowing
instant replacement during routine maintenance or emergency situations.
The Lasdrop Elite propeller shaft seal has a compact lip seal designed for quick and easy installation. The lip seal, made specifically for marine use, is in constant low friction contact with the propeller shaft, preventing water from passing into your vessel. As in all Lasdrop models, the EliteSeal marine shaft seal incorporates a water lubricated alignment bearing in the housing to keep the unit properly aligned with the shaft.
The unique split face plate design has a compartment that is secured to the housing that encompasses a back-up seal, making it changeable in the future without the need to remove the shaft or entire unit, reducing maintenance time and costs when seals need replacement. A second back-up seal can also be added into the compartment.
The Lasdrop EliteSeal propeller shaft seal imperial sizing ranges from 3/4″ all the way up to 8″, you can view the full range of sizes offered in the sizing and specification tab. Bespoke sizing can be accommodated on request, contact our team to discuss.
- A Split-face plate makes it easy to replace the inner lip seal (1 spare included) without the need for special installation tools.
- Seal housing is constructed of a durable copolymer with built in water lubricated bearing insuring proper alignment to the shaft.
- Seal case encompassing a back-up seal that rotates freely on the shaft until replacement is needed.
- Utilises premium blue silicone polyester reinforced hose.
- Available in shaft sizes of 7/8” to 8” (22mm to 203mm) in diameter with stern tubes of up to 12” (305mm) in diameter. Flange adapters available
- All units have dual water injection ports including necessary hardware.

DrySeal – Compact Rotary Lip Seal
A simplified, space-saving version of the EliteSeal. DrySeal retains the same copolymer housing and water-lubricated bearing but
is ideal for less demanding installations or where budget is a key consideration.
The Lasdrop DrySeal is a compact, economical, dripless propeller shaft seal utilising a lip seal designed for quick and easy installation. The lip seal, made specifically for marine use, is in constant low friction contact with the propeller shaft, preventing water from passing into your vessel.
As in all Lasdrop models, the DrySeal incorporates a water lubricated alignment bearing in the housing to keep the unit properly aligned with the shaft.
There is an optional back-up seal available that can be installed during the original installation allowing lip seals to be easily changed by simply removing the split-face plate. This allows lip seals to be renewed without the need to remove the shaft or entire unit, reducing maintenance time and costs.
The DrySeal sizing ranges from 20mm to 200mm, you can view the full range of sizes offered in the sizing and specification tab. Bespoke sizing can be accommodated on request, contact our team to discuss.
