BOWMAN TITANIUM CORED HEAT EXCHANGERS

Typical applications include electric propulsion systems, hybrid marine drives, battery cooling circuits, onboard chargers, inverters, converters and marine charging infrastructure where compact and lightweight cooling solutions are required.
EJ Bowman titanium heat exchangers are compact shell-and-tube units specifically developed for electric and hybrid propulsion systems where corrosion resistance, low weight and reliable heat transfer are critical.
The titanium tube stack construction provides exceptional resistance to seawater corrosion while significantly reducing overall unit weight compared with conventional bronze or copper-based heat exchangers, making them ideal for electric vessels and weight-sensitive installations.
Typical cooling duties include battery packs, AC-DC converters, DC-DC converters, electric propulsion motors, hybrid control units and onboard charging systems.
The compact shell-and-tube design allows simple installation within electric propulsion cooling circuits while the fully floating tube stack design minimises thermal stresses and provides efficient heat transfer with low pressure drop.
The Bowman titanium range provides cooling capacities from approximately 3 kW up to around 65 kW depending on coolant flow rate and operating conditions.
Selection should be based on required heat dissipation, coolant flow rate and seawater temperature. Our technical team can assist with accurate product selection based on system operating data.

Titanium tube stacks are fully compatible with Bowman heat exchangers originally supplied with cupronickel tube stacks and provide improved corrosion resistance in seawater cooling applications.
In CHP installations operating on biogas or waste-derived fuels, ammonia compounds may be present within the gas stream and associated cooling systems.
Ammonia can chemically attack copper and copper-alloy materials such as cupronickel, leading to progressive tube degradation.
This corrosion mechanism can result in pitting and eventual pin-hole failure of copper-based tube stacks.
For CHP and waste-to-energy installations where ammonia contamination may be present, titanium tube stacks are strongly recommended due to their superior resistance to ammonia-related corrosion.
